Maple Tempeh Bacon
All the meat eaters I have made this tempeh bacon for have loved it! It is a great recipe to make in bulk and and enjoy in wraps, sandwiches or as a salad topper all week long. I like to make an avocado, tomato and tempeh bacon sandwich. Yum!
One package tempeh
2 1/2 Tablespoons olive or coconut oil
1 tablespoon prepared bbq sauce
1 tablespoon maple syrup
1 teaspoon mustard
2 teaspoons soy sauce or tamari
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 clove crushed garlic
Pre-heat the oven to 375 degrees. Slice the tempeh in 1/4 inches width wise and set in a baking dish. Make a marinade out of the oil, bbq sauce, maple, soy sauce, paprika, garlic and mix well. Pour the marinade over the tempeh, cover the dish and let sit in the fridge for a half hour. After a half hour bake the tempeh in the marinade covered for 15 minutes. Then remove the tempeh from the marinade and transfer to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 5 additional minutes. Let cool and enjoy!
